Topical workshops are offered regularly to staff and students of PolyU so as to sharpen their research techniques in locating, evaluating and managing information. Online Tutorials

The Library also provides online tutorials and information literacy programmes to help users to acquire the searching skills that are essential for their teaching, learning and research needs.

Get to know the services and functions of the Library by joining a virtual orientation. Find out how you can make use of the library resources effectively.

(II) Tutorials on Information Skills

Searching the Library Catalogue Effectively [Tutorial]

Learn how to use the Library Catalogue to locate various library resources including books, e-books, journals and electronic databases, etc.

Searching for Dissertations [Tutorial]

Learn how to access the full-text images of the master's theses and doctoral dissertations of PolyU and other universities.

Remote Access to Library Resources via PolyU VPN [Tutorial]

Learn how to use the VPN Services to access remotely the Library electronic resources including databases, e-journals, or e-books etc. that are restricted to PolyU staff and students.

RefWorks [Tutorial]

Learn how to use this personal web-based database and bibliography creator to create your own bibliographical database by importing references from text files or selected online databases. Its Write-N-Cite further allows you to insert citation directly from RefWorks while you write your paper in Microsoft Word.

Library Workshop in Putonghua for Mainland Students [Tutorial]

This online tutorial consists of 4 modules: Library Resources and Services, Remote Access to Library Resources, Database Searching, Thesis and Report Writing.

(III) Including Library Resources in Online Teaching and Learning Materials [ Tutorial ]

Learn how to create durable hyperlinks to electronic versions of journal articles and integrated into your online teaching materials or WebCT pages.

(IV) Online Information Literacy Programme [ To Access ]

This online programme consists of 4 modules - Selecting Information Sources, Searching for Information, Evaluating Information and Managing Information. Those who have completed all questions with an average score of at least 70% will be awarded a Certificate by the Library.
